I’ve loved this show since I was an 11-year-old with too much internet access after my parents' divorce. I typically
wouldn’t write about it, but with the passing of James Van Der Beek of Dawson’s Creek this February, I wanted to highlight
this series a bit.
Don’t Trust the B is a slop show through and through, and sometimes everyone deserves a little mindless entertainment. From the do-goodedness
of the main character June, to her crazy and promiscuous roommate, Don’t Trust the B is a light-hearted and bizarre outlook of living in
New York as a young woman.
James Van Der Beek plays himself throughout the series, acting as a partner-in-crime and close friend to our protagonists. His charisma and ego are
highlights of his character, and I’ve always loved how silly this whole idea was.
There isn’t much to say about this series; I find the commentary from it to be lighthearted and quite outdated at this point. It will always
exist as a comfort show to me, and I will dearly miss Googling Mr. Van Der Beek while watching.
